Yangjiatun Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Yangjiatun, about 30 km northwest of Beijing City. It was named by Ye Liangfu in 1920.
Lithology and Thickness
Sandstone, Coal and Claystone. Lower member is composed of gray and black shales intercalated with gray-green sandstone and coal seams, and the bottom is of white, gray-white and brown sandstones, intercalated with black shale and inferior coal, containing ferruginous nodules, 72 m thick. Middle member is dominated by conglomerate, intercalated with gray-green shale, sandstone and brown-yellow sandstone, also with black shale and thin coal seams, ~165 m thick. Upper member consists of red and yellow sandstones intercalated with black shale, with purple and brown shales at top, 55 m thick.
